MYOB expands Auckland-based online development capability
New Zealand’s largest accounting software provider, MYOB today announced it is expanding its Auckland operations by creating more than 20 new research and development roles.
The new hires will be part of MYOB’s Enterprise Division, supporting continued innovation in business solutions for medium sized businesses (20 to 200 employees). MYOB is the market leader in this segment across Australia and New Zealand, with the division delivering its solutions via an extensive MYOB partner network.
MYOB will expand its successful EXO product range with a new online solution tailored to meet the needs of mid-market organisations. This builds on the success of its online accounting solutions for smaller businesses, LiveAccounts and AccountRight Live.
MYOB NZ Product Development Manager, Enterprise Division, Trevor Leybourne, says the decision to invest in a local centre of excellence is a clear demonstration of the company’s commitment to the New Zealand market.
“This new investment not only strengthens our local research and development capability, it provides a great opportunity for local developers, testers, analysts and architects to be an integral part of a talented team. Growth and expansion via launching a new product into the evolving online space signals an exciting time for the Enterprise Division. We look forward to announcing further details over the next 12 months,” he says.
Recruitment expert and Potentia Managing Director, Josh Comrie, also welcomes the expansion, saying, “It's great for the technology, employment and business landscape to see MYOB reinvesting in R in New Zealand. Kiwis have long been recognised for innovation, creativity and output as a nation of technologists. Further to this, domestically, this growth will create competition favourable to individuals considering a career developing next-generation applications in NZ.”
“MYOB’s vision and leadership team is great and there have been some recent smart acquisitions. Couple this with an ongoing shift to cloud computing - MYOB presents a compelling proposition to prospective employees here and afar.”
MYOB spends approximately NZ$35 million on research and development per year.
