Our regular monthly survey sent to over 10,000 licensed real estate agents around New Zealand has found that a record net 19% of the 439 respondents are noticing fewer potential vendors coming forward to ask for valuations on their properties. This result suggests a worsening of the already deep listings shortage and it is unsurprising that a record net 21% of agents feel it is a seller’s market with a net 48% feeling that prices are rising.
This month we also asked agents the proportion of the vendors they represent who are located offshore. The result is about 4.5%. This compares with the 7.8% - 9.2% of sales which agents report go to people located offshore, of which perhaps half plan shifting to or shifting back to New Zealand.
