Air New Zealand Safety Video Wins Digital Award
Hobbits have proven a winning formula for Air New Zealand with the airline’s Hobbit-themed ‘An Unexpected Briefing’ safety video announced as a winner at the Digital Innovation Asia Awards.
The awards, which recognise innovative, performance-oriented digital innovations in the Pacific Asia travel and tourism industry, were announced in Bangkok overnight.
The safety video which was created in conjunction with Weta Workshop and inspired by the fantasy adventure The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was named the winner in the Most Inspiring Content category.
Air New Zealand’s Head of Global Brand Jodi Williams welcomes the award saying ‘An Unexpected Briefing’ has been a global hit notching up more than 12 million combined views on YouTube and its Chinese equivalent Youku.
“Air New Zealand prides itself on thinking outside the box when it comes to onboard safety videos and continually looks to create innovative and entertaining content that customers want to watch. This imaginative video certainly attracted a lot of attention and it’s an honour to win the Most Inspiring Content category.”
