Singapore Airlines Selects Trent 1000 to Power B787-10X Aircraft

Singapore Airlines has selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine to power 30 Boeing 787-10Xs for delivery from the 2018/19 financial year.

The engine was selected from among two competing models available for the aircraft, following a detailed evaluation of offers.

Singapore Airlines has also signed a letter of intent with Rolls-Royce for a TotalCare services package. Under the comprehensive support agreement, Rolls-Royce will be responsible for the provision of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the engines, as well as for spare engine support.

Today’s engine selection follows an agreement with Boeing on 30 May 2013 for the purchase of 30 B787-10Xs, which are intended for use on medium-haul routes. The order is conditional upon Boeing formally launching the B787-10X programme.
