Restaurant Association Grabs New Research for Report
The Restaurant Association of New Zealand has turned to daily deal operator GrabOne to research diner behaviour for
their annual Hospitality Report.
The research report, to be released later this month, unveils some surprising figures, Restaurant Association CEO,
Marisa Bidois says.
“The research shows only three per cent of Kiwis are posting regular restaurant reviews on sites such as Menumania and
Menus.co.nz,” she says. “This is particularly insightful given that over 46 per cent of us check out reviews online
before trying a new restaurant!”
Word of mouth still reigns supreme with 75 per cent of respondents visiting a new restaurant based on the recommendation
of family or friends.
Bidois says the decision to use GrabOne for their research was based on the opportunity to access a large database and
the broad reach of GrabOne.
“GrabOne holds the most subscribers of all the daily deal sites in New Zealand,” says Bidois. “We are constantly looking
to understand dining trends here in New Zealand and having access to a large number of individuals to ask pertinent
questions to is essential for our businesses to prepare for coming trends.”
GrabOne has over one million active members. To date over 1.9 million meals have been eaten at over 2200 restaurants by
more than 500,000 diners.
The Hospitality Report is widely distributed to association members, businesses and individuals around New Zealand every
June.
