Another World First for New Zealand
Today, New Zealand is celebrating two world firsts – the 60th anniversary of Edmund Hillary climbing Mount Everest, and the launch of a unique and feisty new beverage.
Ranga Lemon, Lime & Bitters is the first of its kind in the world. It is brewed using a premium, dry apple cider flavoured with real Lemon and Lime and spiced up with a splash of aromatic bitters and at 4.5% alcohol this refreshing drink lives up to its feisty name.
The team at Ranga, who are just a group of four mates, started brewing Ranga Gingerbeer in their shed just over a year ago. It has quickly shot to fame and full time production in Gisborne. "Once we got up and running we then had plenty of requests from our fans for a lemon, lime and bitters" says Aucklander & Managing Director Bevan Wait.
The Ranga team then found that story goes that Lemon, Lime & Bitters first gained notoriety on the golf course as a refreshing drop enjoyed back at the 19th hole. And the team at Ranga love their classics, (one of them is doing up a 1976 Austin J4), so after hearing the history of the classic LLB they set to work creating a partner for the already famous Ranga Gingerbeer.
The goal was to take this beverage from the 70’s golf scene and jazz it up for the modern world, post perms and shoulder pads – the result? A refreshing, easy drop with a very moreish aftertaste; brewed so that the flavour comes from the citrus rather than the sweetness.
The team at Ranga are pretty stoked to have produced the first naturally-brewed alcoholic lemon, lime & bitters in the world.
“We’re dedicated to bringing unique products to the Kiwi market – and this is no exception. Ranga Gingerbeer has been an absolute hit; and we’re pretty confident that Ranga Lemon, Lime & Bitters will go down just as well,” says Wait.
Ranga Lemon, Lime & Bitters is best enjoyed over ice with the faint smell of freshly cut grass in the background. You’ll find it at supermarkets, bars and liquor stores throughout the country. The Ranga team and nationwide distributors, Federal Merchant & Co are pleased to bring New Zealand another world first. Hopefully the team now has time to get back to working on their back swing.

Original Ranga
Gingerbeer
Remember that time when your uncle
brewed that homemade Gingerbeer and some of the bottles
exploded? Well, Ranga has recreated that homemade taste of
real Gingerbeer. They’ve tweaked the recipe a bit so that
the bottles don’t explode, and ramped up the alcohol to
4.5%, but otherwise it’s that same feisty ginger taste.
Ranga Alcoholic Gingerbeer is the brainchild of four young
kiwi blokes willing to have a crack. After a party at a
mates place having a laugh about how Ranga would be a
classic name for a feisty new Gingerbeer, the four got to
work on pulling it together and employed the help of some
good bastards down in Gisborne to give them a hand with the
recipe and crank up production. The result is an off-dry
style Gingerbeer with the ginger infused in the conditioning
stage. The taste described by one wine expert: “...spicy
and snappy on the palate with just the faintest edge of
sweet. You may say it’s like your favourite chunk of
ginger crunch, boosted with a bit of booze and bundled into
a bottle.”
Ranga is best enjoyed simply over ice with
a squeeze of lime or in your favourite cocktail, perfect for
hot, summer days. The team are amped about driving an
explosive new drink and have nationwide coverage after
teaming up with the crew at Federal Merchant &
Co.
