Wild weather disrupts Air New Zealand schedule

Media release

Wild weather disrupts Air New Zealand schedule

Wild weather across the country today has caused disruptions to Air New Zealand services.

Thunder and lightning delayed services at Auckland airport this morning, snow has affected services to and from Dunedin airport, and heavy snow showers have caused widespread cancellations at Queenstown airport.

Around 800 passengers on flights to and from Queenstown have been affected by cancellations and are being re-accommodated on alternative services. An additional Boeing 737 service between Christchurch and Queenstown was added to this afternoon’s schedule to provide extra capacity.

Snow conditions are likely to prevail and the remainder of today’s Queenstown services are now cancelled so customers booked to travel to or from Queenstown this afternoon are advised to call our Contact Centre on 0800 737 000 or speak to airport staff to make alternative arrangements.

Travellers are encouraged to keep an eye on the Air New Zealand website arrivals and departures page for up to date schedule information as the weather disruptions may have some flow on effect.
