Competition fierce in esteemed commercial property awards
Finalists nationwide from Kaitaia to Wanaka will soon discover if their commercial property developments are the ‘best of the best’ in New Zealand.
On Friday June 7, the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards will reveal New Zealand’s finest developments for 2013 – ending a judging process spanning more than three months. Judges have selected a total of 78 finalists in categories ranging from office, retail and industrial properties, through to education and arts, tourism and leisure, urban and heritage projects.
Property Council’s chief executive Connal Townsend said excitement is building for the awards evening. “Finalist information and judging scores are kept under lock and key as the panel makes its final decision of who will take home the coveted Supreme award. Tickets to the gala dinner event sold out in less than two weeks and we are set for 1000 industry members to join us as we celebrate and award excellence.”
New Zealand’s long-running Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Awards are the country’s most esteemed commercial property awards, and acknowledge properties that add real value to New Zealand’s built environment.
Chief Judge John Dunn ensures each property goes through a rigorous and fair judging process. The judging panel complete site visits of each and every finalist, and review properties against stringent submission criteria.
Evaluation criteria include economic and financial factors, project vision and innovation (including degree of difficulty), design and construction, owner and user satisfaction, and sustainability and efficiency of operation.
Only the highest scoring property in each category, and recognised with a Best in Category award, is eligible for the coveted Supreme award – a change established in 2012 to provide greater recognition to the best commercial property developments in New Zealand.
Excellence awards go to properties that best meet the judging criteria, and Merit awards go to properties with a special distinction that deserves recognition.
A black tie awards gala dinner and ceremony on Friday 7 June 2013 at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland will announce and honour all award winners.
