Harvey Norman Offers Free TV Recycling across New Zealand
Harvey Norman has extended their free TV recycling offer to 31 national stores, effective from 13 May. One TV per
customer can be dropped off, free of charge at the participating stores, for a limited period. Harvey Norman started
free TV drop offs for recycling at nine of its stores on the South Island from Friday 5 April and South Island customers
have taken advantage of this fantastic offer.

Harvey Norman is the only retailer participating in the TV TakeBack programme currently offering a free drop off where
there is no obligation to buy a new TV.
Harvey Norman is partnering with RCN e-Cycle, the e-waste recycling programme, to recycle the TVs. RCN e-Cycle collects
the TVs from the stores and delivers them to their recycling plants in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The TVs
are dismantled and the components are distributed into responsible, environmentally friendly recycling streams.
RCN e-Cycle project manager Jon Thornhill said “It is very encouraging to see Harvey Norman intensifying their
commitment to electronic waste recycling in New Zealand by expanding this offer to include their North Island stores.
They are making a strong statement to prove they care about our environment.”
TV TakeBack is a nationwide Government programme, funded by the Waste Minimisation Fund, to support the recycling of TVs
instead of them being dumped in landfills. It is timed to coincide with New Zealand going digital. RCN e-Cycle is one of
three recyclers chosen to support the Ministry for the Environment’s initiative.
