The Sound Wins Network Station of the Year as
Mediaworks Dominates the 2013 New Zealand Radio Awards

MediaWorks Radio dominated the 2013 New Zealand Radio Awards, announced today; taking home the lion’s share of the major trophies, including Station of the Year, Best Music Breakfast Show, Best Music Non-Breakfast Show, Best Radio Website, Best Individual Radio Journalist, Best Individual Sports Journalist, Best Single Commercial – Creative, Best Network Radio Promotion and Best Client Promotion.

The coveted Network Station of the Year Award went to MediaWorks Radio’s newest station, The Sound.

Stablemate MoreFM took home both Station of the Year - Surveyed Market (92.2 MoreFM Manawatu) and Station of the Year - Non-Surveyed Market (93.6 More FM, Taupo).

Best Music Breakfast Show (Metropolitan) was again won by The Rock, with therock.net.nz also retaining the Best Radio Website Award, a category it has won every year.

The Edge took home Best Music Non-Breakfast Hosts (Metropolitan) for Drive with Fletch and Vaughan, and dominated the Promotions category winning Best Network Radio Promotion for The Edge Boy Band which saw Titanium work the charts over and take their single to number one, as well as Best Client Promotion for Man Made Wedding with Butterfly Creek.

RadioLIVE’s Amanda Snow was named Best Individual Radio Journalist, while her colleague Willy Nicholls took home the awards for Best Individual Sports Journalist and Best New Broadcaster – Journalist. RadioLIVE also won Best Sports Story/Event category for coverage of The Ross Taylor Captaincy Saga.

Dezley Scott-Davidson maintained her place at the top of her game, winning Best Single Commercial – Creative.

MediaWorks Radio Creative Director Tom Davidson says: “Once again, we dominate the creative categories, delivering our clients the very best talent in the country.”

MediaWorks Radio CEO Belinda Mulgrew says: “It’s a real credit to our people to have been awarded at this level, across so many parts of the business, from all over the country.

“The achievement tonight has again demonstrated the depth of talent, creativity and the hard work of our teams. A great night for MediaWorks Radio all round.”
