Along
with the gold medals, Invivo was pleased to receive tasting
notes from well respected judges such as Tobias Brauweiler,
sommelier of The Ritz, London who comments on Invivo’s
Pinot Noir “'A delicate, appealing nose leads to an
elegant, balanced palate with soft tannins and
mouth-watering acidity”
Michelin star Seven Park Place
sommelier Marco Feraldi on Invivo’s 2012 Sauvignon Blanc
“Classic Marlborough nose with gooseberry and cut grass,
leads to a fresh palate with bursts of lime and a medium
length. 'A fresh expression of an exotic Sauvignon Blanc,
where the characteristic leafiness is well accompanied by a
lovely, delicate peach”
Invivo Winemaker and cofounder Rob Cameron commented on his winning wines “The focus with our Sauvignon Blanc in 2012 was making wines with purity, and perfect balance. While not as bold as previous vintages, the 2012 has great elegance and understated power.” “Things like when to take the wine off lees and balancing acidity with fruit sweetness required extra care and details to get right. Given the pedigree of the vineyards, we knew early that this wine is also going to be a great ager, something a little unusual for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.”
“In terms of our Pinot Noir, many think that New Zealand seasons are consistent from year to year, however in the five years I have been making Central Otago Pinot Noir, every one of them has been hugely different, and each providing its own set of challenges in how to get the best out of the fruit.”
“2011 was a challenging vintage and one that made winemakers think hard about extraction and getting the phenolic balance just right. The style we are trying to achieve for our Pinot Noir is one of fruit purity, power but elegance and supported by great oak that as the wine develops becomes less prevalent. Invivo Pinot Noir is treated with the most reverence in the winery and any movement is done only with absolute necessity. Unfined and unfiltered it will continue to unfold elegantly over the next 5-8 years.”
Invivo was also awarded a silver medal for their 2012 Marlborough Pinot Gris, taking their medal haul to two gold’s and one silver at the awards.
