ANZ opens flagship Wellington branch

ANZ last night celebrated the opening of its new branch at 215 Lambton Quay, the flagship for a refreshed and rebranded line up of ANZ branches in Wellington City.

The celebration was attended by Peter Dunne, MP for Ohariu, Ian McKinnon, Deputy Mayor and Wellington City Councillor, staff and customers. The branch replaces the former ANZ branch next door in the ANZ Centre.

Lynne Sutherland, ANZ Regional General Manager, said the opening capped a busy few months for ANZ in Wellington.

“Wellington is incredibly important for us. Bringing the ANZ and National Bank brands together last year gave us the opportunity to take a good look at how we could improve the branch network and deliver better service to our Wellington customers,” she said.

“We’re gradually improving the spacing of our branches between Molesworth St and Courtenay Place. This means that not only do we have more than twice as many branches as any other bank, they’re also incredibly convenient."

The new premises covers two floors, with a team of dedicated business bankers located on level two. The branch also features a 24/7 ATM lobby for safe, after-hours access, with an intelligent ATM that accepts cash and cheque deposits.

The new branch has been open and serving customers since last Monday. Ms Sutherland said the feedback has been incredibly positive – from both staff and customers.

The branch is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm as well as from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.

“Customers really appreciate the flexibility and convenience of being able to do their banking on a Saturday, and also having the access to the lobby after hours,” Ms Sutherland said.

This new ANZ Wellington flagship branch is supported in the central city by ANZ 188 Lambton Quay, ANZ North Lambton Quay, and also ANZ The Terrace, ANZ Molesworth Street, ANZ Manners Street and ANZ Courtenay Place.

ANZ Karori will re-open next week after extensive seismic strengthening, and a new branch is planned for Willis St next year.
