Queenstown to Showcase its Wedding Wow Factor

Love Is In the Air - Queenstown to Showcase its Wedding Wow Factor

Queenstown, New Zealand (18 April 2013):  Queenstown’s wow factor as a world-class year-round wedding destination will be showcased with flair next month at the inaugural Southern Lakes Wedding Show (11 May).

With stunning scenery, four distinct seasons, and diverse locations and experiences, the Queenstown region is fast becoming the destination of choice for couples seeking a romantic setting for proposals, weddings, weekend getaways, and honeymoons.  The new event aims to show why the region is so popular and provide brides and grooms-to-be with a memorable experience and inspiring suggestions for their special day.

Attendees will be greeted in style and ride the gondola up Bob’s Peak to the iconic Skyline complex high above Queenstown where they will be treated to panoramic views of dramatic mountain ranges and the crystal clear waters of Lake Wakatipu.

The programme lineup features a ‘high tea’ themed bridal fashion show, an expo with product displays and the chance to get expert advice, local insights and packages from the region’s leading wedding providers, while blokes will have the option of the ‘ManZone’ complete with bar, gaming consoles, free massages, and sausage sizzle.  All couples attending the show will go in the draw to win The Ultimate Wedding Package worth $15,000.

Destination Queenstown CEO Graham Budd believes the wedding show is a great opportunity for those considering tying the knot to book a romantic weekend in Queenstown and get a taste of what the region has to offer.

“Whether you’re looking for an intimate gathering or large celebration, Queenstown welcomes all couples and can provide a spectacular backdrop for weddings at any time of year.

“Summer is traditionally New Zealand’s peak time for weddings but we’re lucky to have four distinct seasons here which provide vastly different backdrops, whether it be a white wedding in the snow, the bright blooms of spring, long blue-sky days in summer, or our famous vivid reds and golds of autumn.

“Based on natural beauty alone, it’s an inspiring and exotic destination but if you add the vibrancy and facilities of a cosmopolitan resort town, unique wedding venues, world-class experiences, easy flight accessibility, and local experts to make your special day run seamlessly, it’s the complete package.

“You can also stay on and enjoy a honeymoon here or encourage your guests to take an extended holiday so that you can spend some quality time together catching up and having fun.”

The region’s diverse venues and experiences also provide theming for all budgets and styles.  More traditional options include intimate church services, lakeside ceremonies and vineyard weddings while those looking for unique or quirky options can capitalise on Queenstown’s bucket list of experiences and wed on a mountaintop or take the plunge with a bungy jump or tandem skydive.  Couples can even go to Paradise to get married – literally!
