Vodafone sign three year deal with New Zealand Young Farmers

Now in its 45th year, organisers of the ANZ Young Farmer Contest are pleased to welcome Vodafone as a sponsor for the next three years.

This years event to be held in Kumeu on Friday 17th May will see the seven Grand Finalists battling it out for the grand prize of over $60k. Vodafone will provide over $19k across the finalists with $7k for the winner. In addition to Vodafone’s sponsorship of the contest they take the mantle as exclusive telecommunications provider for New Zealand Young Farmers, offering specialist communications expertise for the organisation and its members.

“The ANZ Young Farmer Contest is the showcase event in the Young Farmer community and we are pleased to have Vodafone associated with our organisation”, commented Hilary Phillips, Contest Operations Manager. “We are fortunate to have their support and we look forward to working with Vodafone until 2016 and beyond”, Ms Phillips explained.

Today, the new generation of young kiwi farmers are embracing technology and innovation more than ever before, and Vodafone see New Zealand Young Farmers leading the way in agribusiness innovation. A recent survey demonstrated that young farmers are adopting smartphones and other devices faster than the NZ average. 45% of young farmers under 40 own smart devices.

As the governments chosen provider in delivering wireless broadband to rural New Zealand, Vodafone recognises rural residents as some of the highest contributors to GDP in NZ, and is committed to provide rural New Zealand with the tools and capabilities to ensure it remains the driving force of our economy.

Vodafone’s head of rural marketing, Darren Hopper, is very optimistic about the relationship.
