The first dedicated Windows 8 app for streaming of movies and TV series in Australia and New Zealand enabling an exciting new experience for Windows 8 tablet, laptop and desktop users.

Quickflix Limited (ASX: QFX) has today launched its new instant streaming application for Microsoft Windows 8 in Australia and New Zealand taking advantage of Windows 8's ground-breaking user interface and massive potential for reaching Windows-based customers.

The app is available in the Windows Store as a free download and is Australia and New Zealand's first dedicated Windows 8 app to enable instant access to feature movies and TV series content. Users of the app can access Play, Quickflix's subscription service for movies and TV, as well as Pay Per Play, which features hundreds of new release movies available to subscribers and nonsubscribers alike for just $5.99.

Current and upcoming new release titles on the Pay Per Play service include Oscar winners Argo, Les Misérables and Searching for Sugar Man and other titles such as Pitch Perfect, Killing Them Softly and Frankenweenie. The new app works on Microsoft’s revolutionary Surface® tablet as well Windows 8 compatible desktops, laptops and tablets of the globe’s largest manufacturers including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus and Acer.

Commenting on the launch of its Windows 8 app, Quickflix Chairman and CEO Stephen Langsford said “We are very excited about being the first Windows 8 app to put movie and TV streaming in the hands of Australian and New Zealand consumers.

It’s not only a wonderful way to navigate and select a great movie to watch but the potential uptake across Windows devices including tablets, laptops and desktops is significant. This is a big step forward in enabling everyone the opportunity to access Quickflix streaming.”
