Vector Network News week ending April 5
NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 5 April 2013
ELECTRICITY
It has
been a busy week for vehicular incidents. A car hit a pillar
in Flatbush, a car hit a pole in Kohimarama, there was
another car vs pole incident in Clevedon which caused a
power outage affecting more than 700 customers in the area
– but perhaps the most unusual one was a car v house in
Papatoetoe. Our crews were called out to isolate the power
to the house.
Two reports came in for power lines that had come down on Waiheke Island, one at East Ostend and the other at Oneroa. It’s believed that trucks had taken out the lines in both cases. Poles were replaced and lines re-hung within several hours.
We were alerted by the Police that a transformer door was open on Howe Street in Central Auckland. Our crews closed and secured the doors immediately.
Our crews were also called in to isolate the power at two fires on Wednesday (April 3). One was at the Maidment Theatre at the University of Auckland in Princes Street and the other a building in Burma Road, Tapora.
GAS TRANSMISSION AND
DISTRIBUTION
There were two incidents where
contractors struck a gas pipe, one in Mt Maunganui and one
in Mt Albert. Residents at a household in Hamilton East also
reported a gas smell which turned out to be a gas leak on an
installation on their property.
Please take care
around our gas network and call 0508 B4 U WORK (248 967) or
