South businesses challenged to enter awards
Auckland South organisations should face the challenge of competition and reap the rewards, according to the organiser of this year’s local business awards.
At an official awards launch in Manurewa, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) challenged local companies to enter the 2013 Westpac Auckland South Business Awards and use it as a tool for future success.
More than 120 local business people attended the launch to hear the benefits of entering the annual awards.
ATEED’s Manager Business Growth, Yvette Hellyer, believes friendly rivalry and competition brings out the best in local businesses.
“Business face challenges – whether they are big or small – on a daily basis, and some tend to thrive on it,” says Yvette Hellyer. “We want them to face another challenge – entering the business awards – to see how they measure up in their community.
The awards are a great way of discovering your businesses strengths and weaknesses, and using this insight to build a stronger organisation. and also a great way to meet other businesses contacts.
Now in its 22nd year, the awards celebrate the successes of businesses in all industries from Pukekohe to Otahuhu and across to Howick.
Businesses of all sizes can enter up to three of eight categories, with all winners eligible for the Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award.
Three extra awards, Best Emerging Business, Small Business of the Year and Best Medium to Large Business, will be selected from the overall entrant pool, where eligibility is met.
Entries in the annual business awards close on Friday, 14 June.
