Vision Manawatu stirs thoughts of selling to the world
Manawatu businesses were privileged to a free seminar held on Tuesday March 5th to inform and educate on the challenges and opportunities of selling internationally. Vision Manawatu, as part of their strategy to support exporters, hosted the seminar at their Broadway offices, encouraging potential or early stage exporters to attend.
Targeted at businesses that are looking to export as a future strategy, the seminar was titled ‘Thinking about Exporting’ and was led by Dr Romuald Rudzki, founder of the New Zealand School of Export and board member of the International Association of Trade Training (IATTO).
The event was attended by representatives from 5 local businesses as well as team members of Vision Manawatu, and received an overwhelmingly positive response. “It was an interactive session. Dr Rudzki was very engaging and really got them thinking on the right track; thinking about whether they are ready to export, and gave them practical advice on the next steps.” stated Alana Connolly of Vision Manawatu. The seminar covered various fundamental issues in export, including the importance of understanding the differences in the cultural and social environments of different international markets; something that many of the attendees had not considered.
The seminar would normally cost businesses in excess of $400 to attend, however thanks to support from Vision Manawatu and the NZ School of Export, the opportunity was made available to local businesses free of charge. It was the first in a series of events being held by Vision Manawatu as part of their continued commitment to support and grow local business. A repeat of the ‘Thinking about Exporting’ seminar will be held next month on the 11th of April.
Existing exporters can learn how to do so more effectively by attending ‘Growing Your Exports’ on May 9th.
