Organic Lamb All About Queenstown 13/03/2013
Twin Rivers Organic Lamb launches today to bring local organic lamb cuts and whole lambs to Queenstown through its
online store.
“The need to localise food and celebrate New Zealand Produce is so important. We want to share that with kiwis in a way
they can relate to though."
“People live in Queenstown for the lifestyle and that’s what we wanted to promoteeating quality meat and produce with
good friends and family in a beautiful place. We love it.” Said company Director Dave Hockly
The local food movement has been growing in New Zealand and is already in full flight around the world especially in the
countries where food has become highly industrialised such as the US, UK & Australia. Rooted in a ‘fair deal’ for farmers, less chemical use on the farms, our overreliance on cheap oil
throughout food production, storage & transport, the movement sees entrepreneurs and food producers cutting out the middlemen by selling direct to customers
in their local communities, meaning they can deal with smaller quantities of produce and need less infrastructure and
overheads.
The USDA and AsureQuality certified organic Twin Rivers farm, Te Taunga, is on the Coast in the Catlins just 3 Hours
from Queenstown. “We decided that the best place to start supplying the farms lamb is Queenstown. It’s what the tourists
expect to eat when they try New Zealand lamb and it’s where people love to eat well, it has a bit of a foodie scene.
That’s why we are excited about our online store and affordable delivery around Queenstown.” Says Hockly.
Twin Rivers Organic Lamb has teamed up with Kiwi social enterprise, Bucky Box as part of The Local Food Startup
Challenge http://challenge.buckybox.com which aims to support new local food distributors getting started to bring about a better food system.
Hockly says “Bucky has been great to work with, we believe in their vision and we love being apart of something bigger
than ourselves. It really is set up for small operators and we need to be flexible with delivering fresh chilled lamb.
We can’t wait to connect with local people and share the good food and good times."

About Twin Rivers Organic Produce
Twin Rivers was formed by Hugh Rouse, Ben McGill and Dave Hockly in September 2011. We were having a beer after chopping
firewood and chatting about what we love in life. The discussion grew to the love of good service and good meat- Bens
father, Bruce McGill has an incredible story about his search for sustainability after his father passed away from
cancer. Bruce continues to transform the farm and livestock to be delicious and healthy without sacrificing the land,
people or profit. This inspired us to band together and start supplying the lamb locally to lower food miles, support
the farm and share its story with the world.
We want to focus on nose to tail eating of the lamb, honoring every part of the animal. It completes the gate to plate
story. We know its more tasty, brings friends and family together and is better for the country and the people eating
it.
We sell finely butchered cuts to restaurants around New Zealand and whole carcasses for spit roasts, families and flats.
Our small goods like patties and sausages sell through retail outlets. All of this can be bought online at www.twinriversnz.com For more information visit our website www.twinriversnz.com
