Lose Your Locks At Farmers For Shave For A Cure

People gearing up to participate in Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand’s annual Shave for a Cure fundraiser can now look forward to a bit of moral support – and a new do courtesy of Farmers.

Ten stores nationwide are hosting Shave events on March 7 and 8 as part of Farmers’ on going sponsorship of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

To liven proceedings, local celebrities and professional hairdressers will be on hand to create the hairstyle of the shavee’s choice with a range of dos to choose from including the ‘no-hawk’, ‘half-wit’ and the ‘Friar Tuck’.

The public shave events are hugely important, providing ‘shavees’ with a place to unite for a great cause and have their ‘shave moment’ in front of supporting family, friends and members of the public.

Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand welcomes the support of Farmers which raises in excess of $300,000 a year through various nationwide fundraising efforts, says Pru Etcheverry, CEO Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

“We are thrilled Farmers is supporting us by holding shaves in their stores across the country. Its on-going support for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand’s work in support of patients and families with a blood cancer is invaluable.”

Farmers managing director Rod McDermott says the company continues to support the charity because blood cancers have the potential to affect all New Zealand families.

“As a national retailer we want to do all we can to help raise awareness for a worthy cause and make a difference in the lives of those people, in our communities, who are dealing with blood cancers.”

Shave for a Cure week runs from March 4 to 10. To register for one of the Farmers public shave events, go to www.shaveforacure.co.nz or contact the shave team on 0800 15 10 15.

In addition all Farmers stores are giving customers a ‘slap band’ in return for a minimum $5 donation.
