University of Waikato goes mobile with 2degrees
2degrees today announced it has won a major contract to provide all mobile voice and data services to the University of Waikato.
Under the initial contract, 2degrees will provide the university with mobile services to over 450 connections, as part of a long-term partnership.
The agreement, which is the largest for 2degrees since it was approved as a Government panel provider for the All of Government (AoG) Mobile, Voice and Data supply contract last year, will also see both organisations work together across a range of other areas to provide benefits to the University’s students, alumni, family and friends.
2degrees Chief Executive Eric Hertz says the deal is a milestone partnership that reflects its commitment to providing a fairer mobile deal for all New Zealanders.
“The University of Waikato is an innovator in its respective fields and we are thrilled that it has recognised us as an innovative, credible alternative that it can build a long-term partnership with. This win is also significant as it shows that 2degrees that can not only deliver value to consumers and small business but also now large, complex organisations.”
Mr Hertz says the deal with Waikato University reflects a new way of doing business in the mobile world.
“Just as technology is rapidly changing, so are the needs of New Zealand businesses who want more transparent, flexible plans that suit their specific communications needs.”
“We have worked very closely with the University to develop a deal specifically tailored to its needs but also flexible enough to allow for changes as those needs evolve. We are looking forward to supporting Waikato University with cutting-edge, long-term mobile solutions.”
University of Waikato Vice-Chancellor Professor Roy Crawford says the contract with 2degrees will help the University minimise costs, but the real winners will be students.
“At the University of Waikato we are investing in the future of our students. By providing opportunities for students to take part in the great deals offered by 2degrees we are enabling them to utilise the latest technology and learn anywhere, anytime.”
