Emirates Inaugurates Non-Stop Daily Service to Algiers

Emirates has launched its daily non-stop service from Dubai to the city of Algiers, the airline’s 22nd gateway in Africa and 130th international destination.

The new service will provide direct connections at Dubai with all four daily Emirates flights from New Zealand.

Travellers to Algiers will fly on Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a three class configuration featuring Emirates’ award-winning service and passenger comforts.

“With the start of our daily non-stop service from Dubai, Emirates looks forward to introducing a whole new audience to Algeria, bringing leisure travellers from around the globe to experience this country’s unique attractions. We are confident that Algeria will be a popular destination for business and leisure travellers alike, boosting tourism and opening new markets for business and trade,” said Emirates’ Executive Vice President Engineering and Operations, Adel Al Redha.

The new daily non-stop flight to Algiers, will have a belly hold capacity of 12 tonnes.. Imports into Algiers include a wide range of manufactured goods, while the top exports include frozen fish, lobsters, oil and gas equipment and palm oil.

Algiers, the capital and largest city of Algeria, is located in the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. The city is home to numerous attractions, including the Great Mosque, the National Library, Martyrs Square, the Bardo Museum and multiple monuments and forts.

It is also home to a rich variety of architecture and a vibrant cultural scene with a diverse heritage of Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and French influences. The country also boasts some of the world’s most spectacular coastline as well as vast mountainous and desert landscapes.

Emirates created a strong presence in Algiers with a high profile gala dinner. More than 300 guests from the travel trade and business community gathered for the eagerly-awaited event at Le Chapiteau, Sheraton Club Des Pins Hotel.

The launch activities continued today with a press conference held at the Sheraton Club Des Pins Hotel in Algiers attended by senior Emirates executives and members of the local media.

Following the launch of Algiers, Emirates will next start services to Haneda in Japan on June 3, and Clark in the Philippines on October 1 2013.
