Nespresso named the official coffee of the 34th America’s Cup
New Zealand, 23 January 2013 – Nestlé Nespresso S.A. is pleased to announce that Nespresso will be the official coffee of the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco.
A partnership with the race organisers, the America’s Cup Event Authority (ACEA), means the company’s premium coffee capsules and advanced coffee machines will be used to supply Nespresso Grand Cru coffees for guests, partners and fans at one of the world’s great sporting competitions.
“We are proud to be supporting such a prestigious and exciting event,” said Guillaume Chesneau, Country Manager Nespresso New Zealand. “Our rich history with sailing, along with our relationship with Emirates Team New Zealand makes this the perfect partnership for Nespresso.”
Stephen Barclay, CEO of the America’s Cup Event Authority, added “We are pleased and proud to welcome Nespresso as the official coffee of the 34th America’s Cup and look forward to being able to provide spectators with ‘the ultimate cup’ when they come to the America’s Cup Park in San Francisco.”
The announcement of the new partnership coincides with the opening of Nespresso’s first boutique on the west coast of the United States, in San Francisco. Nespresso is rapidly expanding its customer base in the US as more and more discerning coffee drinkers discover its coffee, sourced from only the highest quality beans in the top1-2% of the world’s supply. It is accelerating the global expansion of its network of boutiques in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
“Strong supporters of sailing, New Zealanders have also become passionate fans of Nespresso. Our boutique in Newmarket, Auckland, allows us to create a unique environment in which to enjoy the Nespresso experience and invite customers to be a part of the America’s Cup atmosphere as we proudly support Emirates Team Zealand and their bid to bring the Cup home” said Mr Chesneau.

Notes to Editors:
Nespresso’s new partnership will get underway with the America’s Cup World Series in the Italian city of Naples in April. Then in July the action will shift to San Francisco for the America’s Cup Challenger series. The summer of sailing will reach its climax in September with the America’s Cup Finals.
Nespresso began its association with sailing as co-sponsor of Team Alinghi for the 32nd America’s Cup campaign, and official coffee for the event. In 2010, Nespresso and Wally, the world leader in yachting innovation, launched the Nespresso Cup, an international regatta exclusively for the Wally Class in Portofino, Italy, which was held again in 2011.
Nespresso became an Elite Sponsor of Emirates Team New Zealand, one of the challengers for the America’s Cup, in April 2011.
