Cambridge Stud Parade Tomorrow
With the 2013 Karaka Yearling Sales less than a week away, one of the first drafts to arrive at Karaka at the weekend was Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan’s Cambridge Stud which is set to host its annual public parade tomorrow (Tuesday 22 January) at 1:30pm.
Having presented yearlings at the National Yearling Sales Series since the early 1980s, Cambridge Stud has dominated the leading vendor category by sale aggregate – racking up 31 straight years at the top in 2012.
Famous for the deeds of the father/son duo of Sir Tristram and Zabeel, Cambridge Stud will present a 57-strong draft at Karaka 2013 including 21 yearlings by resident super sire Zabeel. For more information on Zabeel, his achievements and his draft at Karaka 2013, click here.
Karaka 2013 will feature the first yearlings by Cambridge Stud’s resident freshman sire Tavistock (by Montjeu), 13 of which are in the Premier Sale, including five out of Zabeel mares.
Tavistock was named New Zealand’s Champion Sprinter in 2010 after winning the Group 1 Mudgway Stakes and Group 1 Waikato Draught Sprint. Tavistock’s progeny in the Premier Sale include:
Lot 232, the filly from the Group 2 winning mare Lovetrista (Rock of Gibraltar) – a member of the Eight Carat family.
Lot 348, a half-brother to Group 3 winner Zacroona from the Group 2 winning mare Singalong (Danasinga).
Lot 404, a half-sister to the Group 2 winner La Sizeranne from the Group 2 placed Zabeel mare Tricia Ann.
Cambridge Stud will also offer six yearlings in the Premier Sale by Keeper, including a half-brother to Pussy Willow (Lot 274), a half-sister to Group 2 winner Pure Harmony (Lot 28) and the filly at Lot 347 whose dam is a half-sister to Samantha’s Choice – dam of Redoute’s Choice.
The Stud will also offer a draft of 17 yearlings in the Karaka Select Sale.
Cambridge Stud will conduct a full yearling parade on Tuesday at 1:30pm at Karaka (I Barn). It is open to the public.
