Marsh Launches Insurance Facility for Cantabrians Wanting to Rebuild
Auckland, 16 January, 2013 – Marsh, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management, today announced the launch
of an insurance policy for Cantabrians rebuilding their homes following the major earthquakes in 2011.
The insurance provides cover during the construction phase of new residential dwellings, with the option of 12 months
home insurance following completion. Cover is available to home owners and developers and is available irrespective of
any banking relationship.
”The need for a substantial insurance capacity for the Christchurch residential rebuild has been evident for some time,”
said Grant Milne, Country Head of Marsh New Zealand. “This insurance facility is expected to cater for up to one-third
of new residential construction in Canterbury over the next several years”.
“Marsh is very excited to be able to facilitate this cover. Having had to restore our own operation following the
devastation of our Christchurch office, and with some of our colleagues’ and clients’ own homes being directly affected,
we are well aware of the challenges of finding insurance in the current environment. We believe that this facility will
enable people to move forward and start a new chapter in their lives.”
Insurance is provided by an international panel of well-rated insurers, lead by Vero Insurance. The rebuild facility is
offered under recognised local insurance policy conditions and with local claims management. All applications will be
subject to the insurer’s underwriting criteria. More detailed information is available here.
