Webtrepreneurs feted in Webstock ’13 BNZ ‘Start-up Alley’
BNZ is calling all Kiwi ‘webtrepreneurs’ to enter BNZ Start-up Alley at Webstock 2013, where two talented tech start-ups will win prize packs that include $10,000 cash and trips to Silicon Valley.
The competition will see eight finalists pitch their ideas to a panel of judges at the upcoming web technology conference Webstock, held in Wellington in February 2013. Each finalist will also be able to create a stand at the BNZ ‘Start-up Alley’, an area specifically designed for the finalists to display their product or idea to the top tech-heads in the country.
BNZ head of digital Steve Bowe says, “This is a significant boost for New Zealand’s burgeoning tech economy. Our finalists will not only have the opportunity to propel their businesses to global success with this prize, they will be showcasing their offering to the rock stars of the international web industry.”
In addition to the cash prize, the winners will also receive flights to Silicon Valley, San Francisco to meet with top names in the web and technology industries, a 12 month BNZ banking package, use of the BNZ Edge Centre and access to ongoing mentorship and connections.
The 2012 winner of BNZ Start-up Alley was Go Vocab, a language learning start-up founded in Wellington, which has already signed up hundreds of teachers and thousands of students across Australia and New Zealand.
To apply for the competition, applicants must be a start-up New Zealand company in the web or technology arena, with fewer than five employees.
Send all applications and a description of the product or idea in a 1-5 page PDF to bnzstartup@webstock.org.nz before Friday 18 January, 2013.
Finalists will be announced on Friday 25th January 2013.
