Christmas ferry delivers lucky family to island retreat

Media Release December 2012

BOTANY TOWN CENTRE EMBRACES ‘STAYCATION’ TREND WITH ULTIMATE KIWI GETAWAY COMPETITION

Botany Town Centre, in conjunction with SeaLink, are embracing the staycation trend by offering a deserving local family an Ultimate Kiwi family getaway to an island location accessible from Botany’s back yard.

The staycation phenomenon celebrates local delights which are easy to reach and less expensive than overseas trips. New Zealand is over-abundantly blessed with great beaches, amazing vistas and fun, family outdoor activities and many of these can be found at Auckland’s very own island retreat - Waiheke Island.

SeaLink provides ferry services to Waiheke Island from two locations in Auckland, the well-known downtown port and from Half Moon Bay, a location easily accessed by East Auckland locals. To showcase the scenery and activities just across the water, Botany Town Centre and SeaLink are inviting the community to nominate a deserving family to win a staycation holiday package to Waiheke.

The winning family will receive a return family pass on SeaLink from Half Moon Bay to Waiheke, Waiheke Island Resort and Conference Centre accommodation and passes to family activities on the island including the Eco Zip Adventure. A host of exciting prizes from Botany Town Centre retailers will also be part of the prize package, including family passes to Hoyts La Premiere, a Prenzel Citrus Vinaigrette, and 925 cz heart and arrow earrings and matching sterling silver pendant valued at $249 from NZ Jewellers.

Desiree Clark, senior marketing manager at Botany Town Centre is looking forward to hearing all about the winning family’s trip, “We’re thrilled to be working with SeaLink to gift this wonderful getaway to a deserving local family. Waiheke Island is right on our doorstep and the Half Moon Bay service is convenient for locals wanting to experience a summer staycation.”

Todd Bolton, managing director at SeaLink says “We want to give the winning family the full Waiheke experience, so they will also be able to take their car over to the island to travel to the various planned activities and explore all the island has to offer.”

To nominate a family in need of an Ultimate Kiwi holiday, visit the Botany Town Centre information desk, or submit your nomination via the ‘contact us’ section of the website (www.botanytowncentre.co.nz). Simply tell Botany and SeaLink why this family deserves a break; perhaps they’ve had a tough year, or have been extra generous to family and the community. Jami-Lee Ross, National local MP for Botany will assist in deciding the winning nominating family.

Entries close 21 December and the lucky family will be able to take their break from mid-January 2013. Runners-up will also receive SeaLink prizes.

SeaLink will also be visiting Botany Town Centre over the Christmas period to ‘snap’ families shopping and give away ferry tickets.
