KernMobile notches up third year as Fast 500 company
Auckland software company KernMobile has proven it has speed and staying power, cracking a third year in the Deloitte
Fast 500 Technology for Asia Pacific.
It has earned a 278th placing in the international awards, one of 45 New Zealand technology companies, successfully
competing with companies from Asia’s tiger economies.
KernMobile’s revenue has grown at an average of 197.5 % over the last three years, following ongoing contracts with
Australasian water utilities and local councils.
Its software captures data on the condition of assets such as pipes, plant, playground equipment, roading and trees,
using mobile devices in the field. Organisations use this information to schedule maintenance or testing, and to
dispatch work gangs, machinery and supplies.
CEO Kerry Connors believes Kern Mobile’s adaptability in this asset intensive sector is the key.
“Our clients configure our software anyway they want to meet a wide variety of the data collection needs such as water
testing, bridge and playground inspections, or pipe repairs. The application can require the workers to follow
established health and safety or traffic management plan protocols,” he said.
KernMobile integrates this real time data into an organisation’s financial and management services for the bigger
picture on maintenance, replacement and depreciation costs.
Other sectors with expensive plant and pipes, like gas and mining offer new opportunities for further growth. The
company has ranked in NZ’s Deloitte Fast 50 for 2012.
