Domino's Franchisee Shaves Head and Champions Movember
No longer just the domain of Kiwi males, Movember has extended its reach to New Zealand women, with Domino's Franchisee
Sherry Champion set to shave her head in support of Movember.
According to Champion, who owns the Domino's Levin store, her decision to shave her head in support of Movember stems
from her desire to raise awareness for both prostate cancer and mental health issues affecting males - both of which
Movember raises funds for.
"I have had people in my life affected by both cancer and depression and really wanted to do something to help," says
Champion.
Champion, who counts Domino's Chicken & Feta and new Chef's Inspirations Chicken, Cranberry & Camembert Pizza amongst her favourites, says she has never had short hair, let alone shaved hair!
Movember aims to raise funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men. By
growing a moustache during the month of Movember, Kiwi males are able lend their support to the initiative, which takes
place during November each year in New Zealand and around the world.
"Movember is great because it makes talking about men's health socially acceptable and encourages Kiwi males to get
checked and to talk about their problems - no matter how staunch they are," says Champion.
Champion, who has been a Domino's Franchisee since 2009, says the best part of owning a Domino's store is getting to
know the customers.
"I love the team we have at Domino's Levin, they're a great bunch of people who work hard and still have a lot of fun -
I couldn't do it without them!"
"I'm also looking forward to the fact that it won't be such hard work getting all of my hair into my hair net!" says
Champion.
Champion will have her head shaved at Zenith Hairdressing, where owner Donelle Walsh offered to perform the cut for free
after seeing Champion's Facebook page outlining her desire to shave her head for Movember.
Domino's New Zealand General Manager, Josh Kilimnik, says it is fantastic to see a Domino's Franchisee supporting
Movember.
"Domino's is passionate about Kiwis, so we are thrilled to see one of our franchisees making an active contribution to
such a great cause," says Kilimnik.
