New Federated Farmers Gisborne-Wairoa provincial president
Peter Jex-Blake elected as new Gisborne-Wairoa provincial president
Hamish Cave has stood down as Federated Farmers Gisborne-Wairoa provincial president and Peter Jex-Blake has been elected as his replacement.
“Federated Farmers sincerely thanks Hamish for his work on behalf of farmers, not just as provincial president, but among the wider Meat & Fibre Industry Group,” says Bruce Wills, Federated Farmers President.
“Hamish has been instrumental in adverse event response, particularly drought over recent seasons on the East Coast.
“In the past four and a half years, Hamish has helped build strong relationships with Gisborne District Council. This includes the Fresh Water Advisory Group and most recently, work with the council on rates.
“Hamish has also built strong relationships with the Police to combat rural crime.
“This is perhaps his most enduring legacy and something we will be highlighting separately very shortly. We all wish Hamish, Amanda and their family all the best as they go back into full-time farming.
“As Hamish steps back, we welcomed Peter Jex-Blake to his first National Council meeting last week in Wellington.
“Peter brings an impressive array of skills in farming, in business and in tourism.
“Peter reflects how diversified agriculture is and brings a considerable skill set to Federated Farmers both inside the farm gate and outside of it. I am certain Peter will build upon the hard work Hamish has put in,” Mr Wills concluded.
