Tillykke med udnævnelsen (Congratulations on your appointment)
PGG Wrightson would like to congratulate Palle Petersen, general manager of its wool export business Bloch & Behrens, on his recently announced appointment as the Honorary Consul of Denmark for New Zealand’s South Island, based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
This is a significant and deserved honour that has been bestowed on Palle and we at PGG Wrightson are delighted for him, said PGG Wrightson Managing Director, George Gould. Palle was originally employed by Bloch & Behrens in Denmark and posted to New Zealand 24 years ago where he has remained ever since, but continues to maintain close ties with his home country. Bloch & Behrens New Zealand operations were acquired by PGG Wrightson as part of a number of structural changes within the New Zealand wool industry over the last four years.
We are delighted to have Bloch & Behrens within our business, said Mr Gould. Like PGG Wrightson, it has a rich heritage dating back more than 150 years and in combination with our on-farm wool sourcing business, we are in a wonderful position to translate customer needs back into on-farm requirements and deliver a high level of professionalism and service to both NZ sheep farmers and our global customers alike.
“One of our key philosophies at PGG Wrightson is that it is the quality of our people that make our business great which is why we are so delighted to see this external recognition of Palle”.
Palle’s appointment was announced by the Danish ambassador on 6 November 2012. Following the loss of his house in Christchurch in the February 2011 earthquake, Palle and his family are currently living in the neighbouring town of Methven. Therefore, in the interim, the Consulate will be located in the offices of PGG Wrightson Wool.
PGG Wrightson is New Zealand’s leading rural servicing firm, with a history dating back more than 160 years. It acquired an interest in Bloch & Behrens in 2008 and took full ownership in 2011 as part of PGG Wrightson Wool. Bloch & Behrens was originally founded in Denmark in 1856.
