NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 11
November 2012
ELECTRICITY
It’s been a busy
week on our network. Response crews attended five car v
poles across Auckland, five car v pillars and two car v
houses in Highland Park and Point England. An outage was
caused by a car v transformer in Papatoetoe; power was
isolated in order to replace the transformer. Crews also
attended three lines down incidents. There were also ten
building fires including one at a chicken factory in
Henderson South and repairs were made to a transformer in
Takapuna after rubbish around it caught fire.
GAS
TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
There were nine service
pipe strikes on our network last week and two main pipe
strikes. Crews also attended a leaking gas meter in Royal
Oak. In all cases fault crews made sites safe and repaired
the equipment. Please take care around our gas network and
call 0508 B4 U WORK (248 967) or 0800 B4 U DIG if outside
Auckland.
PROJECTS
Vector’s new sub
transmission cable reinforcing the supply of the
Hillsborough substation, is well underway. The first phase
has seen approximately two kilometres of ducts installed in
Dominion and Richardson Roads, which completes the pipeline
started when the cycleway and State Highway 20 extensions
were constructed in 2007. Vector will now begin installing
the four and a half kilometre sub transmission cable
beginning from the Mount Roskill substation in White Swan
Road, through Richardson Road, Dominion Road, the cycleway
of Keith Hay Park, and underneath State Highway 20 through
to the Hillsborough substation.
Vector will be completing all road based works in time for Auckland Transport to start their programme of road resurfacing around Christmas. This specifically targets the Richardson Road/Hillsborough Road sections of the works in preparation for ARMA to commence their road upgrade works. The remaining cable works along the motorway will occur early in the New Year.
The last phase takes place in 2013 when electrical equipment will be installed at the Hillsborough substation, and the new circuit will be commissioned.
