Philips Sonicare raises the bar in oral hygiene

October 31, 2012

Philips Sonicare raises the bar in oral hygiene with the release of two unique new products

Auckland, New Zealand – Philips introduces two innovative new Sonicare products that set the standard in personal oral hygiene the award-winning DiamondClean power toothbrush and a unique alternative to flossing, the AirFloss.

“I personally use both products, as they really are the closest that you can get to that dentist-clean feeling,” said dentist Dr Richard Lowe from Fraser Smith Lowe Dentists, Pakuranga, Auckland.

Powered by patented sonic technology, the DiamondClean is the most advanced power toothbrush in the Sonicare range, with a dynamic cleaning action that drives fluid between the teeth and along the gum for healthier gums in two weeks[1] and whiter teeth in just 1 week.[2]

“The diamond-shaped bristles and high-bristle density are more superior at removing plaque and reducing gingivitis than a manual toothbrush,” said Dr Lowe.

The design and functionality of the DiamondClean has been internationally recognised, winning a number of prestigious awards: The Australian International Design Award 2012, an iF product design award 2012 and the red dot ‘Best of the Best’ international product design award 2012 from the Design Zentrum in Germany, which is considered the mark of a quality product.

The DiamondClean also offers versatility with an advanced dual charging system. Users can either use a glass charging unit or a USB travel case that can plug into a laptop to charge on the go without the need for plugs and adaptors.

Set to further revolutionise personal oral hygiene, the AirFloss makes flossing easier and more effective than using traditional string dental floss. It uses microburst technology that delivers a quick burst of air and water through an innovative nozzle guidance tip to clean between teeth, dislodging hard to remove food and forcing plaque and bacteria out.

The AirFloss is quick and efficient, taking only 1 minute and using only 1 teaspoon of water per session, and is proven to be easier to use than string floss.[3]

“Flossing is an essential part of oral hygiene. Many people don’t do it for a variety of reasons including a lack of dexterity or a lack of time. With an easy alternative to flossing now available, there’s no excuse not to floss,” said Dr Lowe.

Philips’ Sonicare DiamondClean power toothbrush and the AirFloss are now available at all leading retailers (product details in attached appendix). “Philips is proud to launch a new suite of superior dental products in New Zealand. The DiamondClean and AirFloss have been designed to make a real difference in oral hygiene that users will both see and feel,” said Philips Oral Care Australia New Zealand marketing manager Simon Keenan.
