‘Marlborough Wines Shine’
The second annual Marlborough Wine Show resulted in 39 wines being awarded gold medals, 79 awarded silver and 163
bronze.
Commenting on the results, Chief Judge, Jeff Clarke said, “This was a very strong line up of wines with particular
success for Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Riesling. The province can be very proud of the wines being exported around
the world.”
Guest judge, Ralph Kyte-Powell of Melbourne added, “It was a pleasure to be part of such a comprehensive overview of
Marlborough wines. Great to judge Sauvignon Blanc by subregion, vintage and style as well as review the region’s other
wine varieties.”
The objective of the Marlborough Wine Show is to demonstrate that Marlborough offers significant and valuable diversity
through its wine styles and sub-regions. Director, Belinda Jackson explains, “To ensure the world continues to embrace
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, the industry needs a platform from which the producers can tell their story. This is what
the Marlborough Wine Show provides.”
Trophies will be announced at a special dinner to celebrate the Marlborough wine industry, being held on November 10, in
Blenheim.
The Marlborough Wine Show is totally independent - owned and operated by Wine Competition Ltd.
