Chen Palmer Announces the Appointment of Two New Public Law Principals in Its Auckland And Wellington Offices
Chen Palmer New Zealand Public and Employment Law Specialists is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Public Law principals, Nicholai Anderson and Marina Matthews, with effect from 29 October 2012.
Mai Chen, Founding Partner, said “These promotions are significant given the Firm’s expansion into Auckland. Nicholai and Marina’s appointments also recognise the success in their areas of expertise, achieving great outcomes for clients and commitment to public law and the Firm.”
Nicholai Anderson is an experienced Public Lawyer with specialist expertise in administrative law, constitutional law and legislation fundamental to public law including the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990, Human Rights Act 1993, Privacy Act 1993 and Official Information Act 1982. Nicholai appeared with Mai Chen successfully representing Te Kohanga Reo National Trust Board in their urgent Waitangi Tribunal claim.
Ms Chen said, “Nicholai is a fine public lawyer with a bright future, and will help me lead the Public Law team in our Wellington Office.
Marina Matthews (Ngati Kahu, Tuwharetoa) leads Chen Palmer’s Education Team of lawyers specialising in education issues ranging from early childhood to schools to universities and private training establishments. She also co-leads the firm’s Working with Government team, and has significant experience in advising on government and parliamentary processes. Prior to working at Chen Palmer, Marina worked at the Tertiary Education Commission and in the Beehive as the Private Secretary to four tertiary education Ministers.
“Marina is a public policy specialist and will help me lead the Public Law team in our Auckland Office.”
Ms Chen said “The appointment of the two new Public Law principals comes at an exciting time for Chen Palmer with the release of the Public Law Toolbox earlier this year and the Firm expanding to Auckland.”
