Economic Recovery and the Rebirth of a City

Press Release

Economic Recovery and the Rebirth of a City:
Bill English to speak at Business Lunch Supporting The Family Help Trust

The Duncan Cotterill Business Lunch: ‘Food for Thought with Bill English’
Thursday October 25th, 12.30 to 3.00pm
Silks Lounge, Addington Raceway
Twigger Street, Addington, Christchurch

How do we build a more competitive economy in these difficult times? The international economic situation has changed since the global economic crisis and the effects continue to be felt in New Zealand – what does this mean for business in Christchurch? How will the rebuild influence business dynamics in our region?

The Honorable Bill English, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance will consider these questions, and many more at the annual Duncan Cotterill Business Lunch on Thursday October 25th at Addington Raceway.

Once again Mr English brings his economic insight to the event and will share with us his view of the past year’s economic events, offering some insight into the next twelve months.

“There isn’t going to be a strong wave come through the economy that picks everybody up.” He says. “But those companies that have more favourable global circumstances, who can adapt a bit more quickly to the changes that have come in the post GFC world are going to continue to grow”.

Mr English has spoken annually at the luncheon for four years.

The event is sponsored by Duncan Cotterill Lawyers, who are committed to business recovery and growth in the Christchurch and Canterbury area and nationally. They are also active supporters of the successful work The Family Help Trust undertake, preventing child abuse and child death in the Canterbury area.

The Trust identifies children at high risk of maltreatment and provides support and education to the child’s parent or caregiver, sometimes for the first five years of that childs life. In this way they are able to break the cycle of abuse.

ENDS.
