BNZ Puts Weight Behind Super Rugby Sponsorship
BNZ is packing down behind New Zealand’s tight five super rugby franchises.
In its continued support for the national game, BNZ has re-signed as principal sponsor of the franchises for a further three years.
When asked why BNZ had re-committed to the sponsorship, ardent Highlanders supporter and BNZ CEO Andrew Thorburn said, “bank staff and a massive number of our customers are passionate fans of the teams and from a professional standpoint we marvel at the individual skills and collective brilliance the teams apply every game.
“It's that same passion and commitment to excellence we aspire to in our everyday dealings with our customers”
“We’re thrilled to have BNZ back supporting the most exciting regional rugby competition in the world”, NZRU Chief Executive Steve Tew added. “This is a significant show of support for rugby so we thank BNZ for recommitting for a further three years”.
Andrew Thorburn said 2012 was a great season for the five franchises. “It was made all the more special by the Chiefs thumping the Sharks to win their maiden title, the first by a New Zealand team in our three year association with competition. So we're delighted that our involvement will further support the ongoing success of the competition and personally I’m already excited about the opening rounds of the 2013 season”, said Andrew.
In signing the agreement Tew commented, “the 2012 season was a huge success with bumper crowds and TV audiences. It’s great news for the game, our franchises and of course, the sponsors.”
With its network of stores around the
country and its 5,000 staff, the BNZ partnership offers a
great opportunity to establish itself in a meaningful way
with fans and the community through the continued support
and promotion of New Zealand’s national game.
