MIA Appoints New CEO

Statement from Mr Mark Gilbert,
President of the Motor Industry Association.

The MIA has now completed the recruitment process to identify a new Chief Executive Officer to replace the incumbent Perry Kerr, when he retires next year.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Crawford to this critical position for the Association.

David was chosen for his wealth of experience in the Government sectors and also for his time as Executive Director of the Petroleum Exploration Association of New Zealand. David will be well known to most in the industry having worked at the Ministry of Transport, as General Manager Environment and Safety between 2005 and 2009. In this role he led the Ministry work on transport climate change initiatives including the Government’s consideration of a CO2 fuel consumption target, exhaust noise and harmful emissions Rules and the successful Road Safety to 2020 Strategy.

David is currently a Ministerial appointment, representing the NZ Automobile Association on the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Committee and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

We are thrilled David is taking up the role of MIA CEO. He will commence with the MIA in February 2013 and will be working with Perry over the following four months to ensure a smooth transition
