Toitū Otago Settlers Museum logo unveiled

Toitū Otago Settlers Museum has unveiled its new logo, which will be used in all branding for the redeveloped museum.

Board chairperson Dr Dorothy Page says it is a simple yet elegant design that combines the old and new names in an imaginative way.

“Both elements of the name are clearly and equally visible,” she says.

“When you consider that we have taken the former museum and redeveloped it into what is effectively a new museum, then this is a very suitable logo.”

Director Linda Wigley says it is a very exciting design that fits well with the new look and feel of the museum.

“It reflects the fact that we are changing and taking a new direction. It is a colourful and distinctive branding that we can have some fun with.”

The design, created by local company BrandAid, provided the design elements that the Museum Board and management had been looking for. It will be used on the Museum’s letterhead, banners, website, advertising and brochures.

Colours used in the design will vary. Each gallery in the museum has its own colour scheme and Ms Wigley says there is scope to change the colour used in the logo to reflect special feature exhibitions, depending on which gallery they are in.

Toitū Otago Settlers Museum will reopen to the public on Saturday, 8 December 2012, following an official opening on Friday, 7 December.

Toitū Otago Settlers Museum is a department of the Dunedin City Council.
