Moa back on the podium at latest beer awards

Kiwi craft brewery Moa has again been recognised by global judges after picking up medals at the Japanese International Beer Competition in Tokyo.

The Marlborough-based brewery won a Gold medal in the international-style Pale Ale category and two Bronze medals in the German-style Schwarzbier and Fruit Wheat beer categories.

The three-medal haul brings Moa’s awards tally for the year to 27 from 4 shows. Tuatara, who picked up a gold and a bronze were the only other New Zealand brewery recognised at the Japanese awards.

“It’s another great recognition of all the hard work and hours our team put into making the best beer we can, it’s been quite a year flying the Kiwi flag around the world,” said Moa Founder Josh Scott.

There were 284 beers from 18 countries and 85 separate breweries entered in the Japanese International Beer Competition.

GOLD
Moa Pale Ale – Australasian-Style Pale Ale or International-Style Pale Ale

BRONZE

About Moa Beer
Moa Beer is brewed with fresh locally produced hops and without adjuncts such as rice, sugar or corn. It’s made the way beer used to be made, before everyone started making it differently. Fastidiously handcrafted in the traditional method and rounded off through the use of winemaking techniques, including barrel ageing and bottle fermentation and conditioning (like they do with Champagne). Because making (and drinking) the same thing every day becomes boring, Moa comes in 10 varieties: The Estate range: Moa Methode, Moa Blanc, Moa Noir, Moa Pale Ale; the Reserve range: Moa Imperial Stout, Moa St Josephs, Moa Blanc Evolution, Moa Five Hop and Moa Breakfast; and Moa Original. Moa comes in a variety of different sizes: from 330ml, through 375ml and 750ml, up to 1.5L magnums, 3L jeroboams and new 2L growlers to make you look extra-cool at parties.
