NZ Bus makes last ditch effort
NZ Bus has requested that the unions meet with them urgently in a last ditch effort to avoid planned industrial action commencing Monday 24th September.
“We cannot increase our financial offer, which met all the demands of the union and was recommended by union leadership before being voted down by members at the ratification meeting, as this would make us totally uncompetitive in the market. What we will do in an effort to avoid pending strike action is retable our offer of a further increase to $20.40 commencing December 2014 through to expiry of agreement in July 2015” says Shane McMahon COO NZ Bus.
“We would strongly urge the unions to lift the notice of strike action today , provide Aucklanders with certainty of service provision moving forward and get back around the table to see if there are any other areas we can work on that are non-financial that may help us get across the line”, he went on to say.
NZ Bus is committed to working with the unions and our people on a productivity framework that will provide the best environment for our people and deliver effective returns to our shareholders who have invested hundreds of millions of dollars lifting the bar in public transport in Auckland.
“We would also like to work with the unions immediately, to see if there is any way they are willing to assist us in ensuring school children can get to and from school safely on Monday” said Mr. McMahon.
