Spring-time for grown-ups

MEDIA RELEASE

Spring-time for grown-ups

Mature spring shades saunter down the catwalks and onto our walls this season, as Dulux releases latest seasonal fashion collection from WORLD’s Denise L’Estrange-Corbet

As mature and muted colours meander their way down the fashion catwalks this season, spring-time shades are given a grown-up twist in the latest Denise’s Picks for Dulux palette.

Compiled by leading New Zealand fashion designer Denise L’Estrange-Corbet of WORLD, the Denise’s Picks for Spring collection features six stand-out shades, which include a pop of overripe mandarin, a grown-up green with warm olive tones, and a mature mustard yellow, which are offset by a crisp and classic navy, a soft bark brown and a calm cottony white.

A far cry from the flowery pastels typically associated with the spring palette, Denise says this season’s Dulux collection reflects the clean lines and colour-block contrasts of the 2012/2013 catwalk, which can be easily interpreted into an interior setting.

"I love bright, primary colours, and these translated onto walls in the home or workplace can make it a wonderful environment to be in – but, like fashion, colours change seasonally and come in and out of vogue,” says Denise.

“For the Dulux Spring season palette, the colours I have chosen are fresh and bold, with a subtlety and mature approach which will work brilliantly all year round. They work perfectly on their own or with each other as they blend seamlessly.”

In creating both her fashion and her colour collection, Denise took inspiration from the bold yet natural hues found out-of-doors, and chose shades which will freshen up interiors without being out-of-date by next season.

“For me, this range of colours conjures memories of crisp days in the spring sun, but in a more subtle and mature way than we usually see.”

“A smooth olive green like Dulux Te Puke is so at one with nature - think of this when using it as it will blend in with almost anything in the garden and would work wonderfully in bringing that fresh timeless feel indoors.”

“If you’re not quite ready for brights, or prefer a more mellow tone in your home, I’d suggest Dulux Tirimoana – a muted bark brown – which could be trimmed with clean navy and cream edges.”

Denise’s latest collection, Black Tie White Noise Spring 2012 also provides inspiration for these colour combinations – for example, the WORLD Prussian shirt paired with the Carbine Trousers swirls navy, mustard and white together to create a well-cut and tailored look with a pop of colour.

“In the home, this colour combination would work effortlessly; I’d pair Dulux Port Ohope - a muted yellow which is just so on trend this season - with Dulux Poor Knights and Dulux Dannevirke – a regal navy and creamy white - as a trim in a kitchen or dining area, to create an elegant yet sunny finish.”

For a spring feel that exudes subtle sophistication, coat your walls and surrounds with swathes of the six smooth shades from the Denise’s Picks for Spring 2012 collection:

Dulux Te Puke: A grown-up olive green which will work with any other natural hue - just look out of your window for inspiration.

Dulux Dannevirke: A soft cottony white, a “blank canvas” colour which will work as the understated yet elegant partner of any Spring Pick hue.

Dulux Port Ohope: A mature mustard yellow, that’s spot on for this season.

Dulux Mangatainoka: A wonderfully warm orange, evoking the feel of overripe mandarins, and lying in the garden on a sunny day. Bold it alone, or soften up with whites and browns.

Dulux Poor Knights: A clean cut, crisp navy that will bring a modern edge to an interior.

Dulux Tirimoana: A warm bark brown that makes for a more muted home palette.
