Finalists named in Auckland North business awards
Twenty one local businesses are in award contention in this year’s Westpac Auckland North Business Awards, after finalists were announced last night.
More than 200 local business people celebrated the occasion and marked the 15th year of the programme, at a special Finalist Function held at North Harbour Stadium.
The finalists include a broad mix of businesses stretching from Warkworth to Takapuna and incorporating companies from construction, IT, health, and food industries.
ATEED’s manager business growth, Ngaio Merrick, is impressed by with the strong showing of construction sector and export businesses amongst the finalist group.
“It is interesting that these two groups are so prominent. The number of construction and property business shows a reassuring return to strength in the domestic market, and the number of businesses that are exporting overseas is great for growing the international market. This is good news for creating a stable and sustainable economy,” says Ms Merrick.
The awards attracted 143 entries across nine categories in a revitalised format showcasing new categories and a judging system based on an internationally recognised criteria.
ATEED’s Chief Executive Brett O’Riley believes the annual awards are an important growth programme for Auckland.
“Businesses looking for long term growth and sustainability should regularly review their performance and look for opportunities for improvement. ATEED’s local business awards are the perfect vehicle to help businesses take time to reflect, assess their position, increase their capability and celebrate their success. Congratulations to all the finalists,” says Mr O’Riley.
Ian Blair, General Manager Business Banking for Westpac, the awards’ major sponsor, is impressed with the calibre of finalists.
“These awards are a pinnacle in the Auckland North business community, which is why Westpac is proud to be a supporter of the awards here and in other areas around the country,” says Mr Blair.
“This year’s finalists are a reflection of this outstanding local business hub, and we’re looking forward to unveiling the winners later this year.”
Winners will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner on Friday, 26 October 2012. Tickets are available at www.ateed.co.nz/awards
