New Appointment Supports Rapid Channel Growth For SMX
New Appointment Supports Rapid Channel Growth
For SMX
Auckland, 12 September 2012. SMX – the New Zealand-owned cloud-based email security and platform as a service provider – has appointed former Connect New Zealand Business Development Manager, Faisal Khatib, to the position of Partner Account Manager, responsible for managing SMX’s rapidly expanding channels business across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).
“We’re delighted to welcome Faisal to the team.” Tiaan Blaaw says. “This is a key role in a very dynamic and rapidly growing market space. Over the past 12 months, 40% of our market growth has been attributed to the channel business across New Zealand and Australia. We now have a total of more than 200 resellers and 3 market partners across ANZ with continued growth in our channel forecast over the next six months.
“Growth in our channel has become a major driver for our overall sales growth. Year-on-year we are forecasting more than 50 percent growth in regional revenues as the market acknowledges the unique advantages of ‘in country’ filtering of mail, our better than 99 percent accuracy, and the ease and speed with which new customers can be provisioned,” Tiaan Blaaw says.
Faisal Khatib began his career at EDS (now HP) in Quality Assurance, before moving on to local accounting software company, Accomplish, where he worked closely with the New Zealand Foundation of the Blind to establish Accomplish as the first accounting software in the world to be used by visually impaired business people. Prior to his role at Connect New Zealand, Faisal gained experience in the Software as a Service (SaaS) market at eAccounts Global.

About SMX
SMX is a market leader in cloud-based email filtering and cloud platform management. The company's SMX Cloud platform not only delivers state-of-the-art inbound and outbound email filtering but also enables fast and easy integration of virtually any existing enterprise application and the serving of these applications via the cloud model.
SMX Cloud integrates sophisticated user provisioning and billing and is designed to be easily 'white labeled', which means customers including Telcos, IT services companies and Internet Service Providers can incorporate SMX services under their own brands.
A key point of competitive difference is in SMX's strategy of deploying its service 'in country'. Local deployment — through an SMX datacenter or through the datacenters of market partners — ensures data is not routed through other countries, but is served in the customer's own country, under local law and jurisdiction.
SMX has a blue chip list of 200 resellers and partners and more than 8,000 customers and 2 million users throughout the Asia Pacific region. Major international partners include Symantec, Fujitsu, Message Systems, CMC India (a subsidiary of the giant Tata Group) and KVH, highly regarded as one of the most innovative network and managed service companies in Japan — and particularly well known as the provider of very high speed 'low latency' fiber networks to major Japanese financial sector customers, including the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Osaka Securities Exchange, the Tokyo Commodity Exchange and the Tokyo Financial Exchange.
SMX is a privately-owned company based in Auckland, New Zealand, where co-founders Jesse Ball and Thom Hooker lead sales, support and development teams focused on local and international sales, both direct and through reseller and license agreements.
