Playcentre Publications Transformed

The New Zealand Playcentre Federation is excited to announce the transformation of their publications arm into a not for
profit publishing company. The move will allow the New Zealand Playcentre Federation to concentrate on its core business
of supporting Playcentres and families. At the same time it enables the Board of Directors to concentrate on the
expansion of Playcentre Publications into new local and global markets.
Playcentre Publications have been in the business of publishing books relevant to early childhood education since before
1975. It provides publications and resources primarily to enable Playcentre members to enhance their training towards
gaining the Playcentre early childhood education qualifications, however, in recent years several books have become
standard text in Colleges of Education. The Ministry of Education recommends 11 ECE education programme books, 7 of
which are Playcentre Publications.
The new Board of Directors were announced at the 2012 annual conference and consists of a wealth of experience and
talent within the government, education and marketing sector.
The Directors include: Chairwoman: Morna Haist, Association, Self employed Facilitator and Leadership Coach; Ginnie
Denny, Adult Education Specialist; Vivienne Lowe, Finance and Administration Manager at Parents Centre NZ Inc. Ro
Parsons, Ministry of Education; Marion Pilkington, who was president of the Playcentre Federation from 2007 to 2010, and
took up the position of Co-president Tangata Whenua when it was created at Conference 2011; and Emma Jane Hordyk, ex
Federation Media Officer, a highly experienced Marketing & PR professional.
Morna Haist, Chairwoman said "I am excited to be working with a group of exceptional Directors taking on the challenge
of taking this company to the next level.” She added “We are looking forward to growing into new markets both in NZ and
globally as we continue to produce amazing learning resources for New Zealand parents, children and the ECE Sector."
