Accommodation Survey: July 2012 key facts

For July 2012 compared with June 2012, after removing seasonal variation:
• New Zealand guest nights fell 8.9 percent, following rises in the previous two months.
• Domestic guest nights fell 11 percent, while international guest nights fell 3.8 percent.
• North Island guest nights fell 11 percent, while South Island guest nights fell 3.7 percent.
• Guest nights fell for all accommodation types, with hotels and motels both down significantly.

The national trend for guest nights has been generally declining since December 2009.
