Paper Plus buys Dymocks Newmarket
New Zealand’s largest book and stationery retailer, the Paper Plus Group, has announced that it will take over the Dymocks store on Broadway, Newmarket.
Dymocks is exiting the New Zealand market and Paper Plus has brokered a deal with the book chain which involves the purchase and re-brand of the Newmarket store along with access to Dymocks database.
Paper Plus Group CEO Rob Smith says Paper Plus is continuing to expand on store locations and customer offerings, even at a time when other retailers are retrenching.
“In the last few years we’ve been committed to repositioning the brand with a modern feel and have made consistent efforts to ensure that Paper Plus is the preferred choice for our valued customers,” says Smith.
“Repositioning the brand and focussing on our strength in the range of books available in store has been invaluable and we have been gone from strength to strength ever since.
“This recent purchase of Dymocks further cements our position as a key player in the market.”
Once the refit to the Paper Plus brand is complete the store will be opened by franchisees Jeanee and Malcolm Hughes.
Mr and Mrs Hughes who currently own the successful Paper Plus Birkenhead store are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that will come with the move.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting time for the Paper Plus Group. We envisage that we’ll hit the ground running with this busy Newmarket store, but before doing so, we’ll be sure to launch it with a bang” says Jeanee.
The Newmarket store will include the full Paper Plus offering of books, stationery and office products. Dymocks customers can rest-assured they will still have access to all the latest great reads as well as the added bonus of Fly Buys and My Big Deal VIP rewards.
