MEDIA RELEASE

New-look PlaceMakers Egmont Road store opens today

Six months on since PlaceMakers announced it would redevelop its Egmont Road site into a “one-stop shop” for the local building trade and serious DIYers, PlaceMakers opens its new-look store’s doors today, 10 September.

The official public opening of PlaceMakers Egmont Road will be held this weekend, 15 – 16 September. The public are invited along to celebrate the store’s ‘grand reveal’ with specials on offer over the weekend.

As well as a new 800m2 showroom and ample car parking, the Egmont Road site offers an expansive drive-through area that adds to customer convenience.

The Molesworth Street store closed last Friday and all staff - including some who have been there since the store opened in 1987 - have transitioned to the fully refurbished Egmont Road site.

PlaceMakers Chief Executive John Beveridge says the move to one site in New Plymouth will strengthen the company’s operations in Taranaki.

“Between our two purpose built trade stores at Egmont Road and in Hawera, PlaceMakers is in a strong position to extend its market leadership position in Taranaki. We are totally committed to the region, which is reflected in our investment in upgrading the Egmont Road store.

“Transitioning to one site in New Plymouth means our customers will benefit from a more streamlined service, effective store layout and greater product range. We will also continue to offer our frame and truss service from the nearby plant on Craig Place.”

Both stores were closed over the weekend as the final transition from Molesworth Street to Egmont Road was made.

Unveiling its new showroom and completely refurbished site, PlaceMakers Egmont Road is now re-open for business.
