Local Lighting Company first in NZ to receive IC-F rating
ecopoint, a local company specialising in providing high quality, environmentally friendly LED lighting solutions, has
announced that its small panel lighting range has received the sought after IC-F rating, awarded by International
Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ), New Zealand’s premier accreditation body.
The IC-F rating is the highest classification in its category and means that building insulation can safely and
continuously be exposed to a temperature of 90 degrees Celsius, and is permitted to abut and cover the luminaire –
effectively that insulation can lay right on top of the light fitting. To achieve the IC-F classification, ecopoint’s
ecoLED panel lights underwent a number of rigorous and independent tests relating to the degree of contact that is
allowed between it: the light fitting, and the surrounding building insulation.

insulation.”
ecopoint’s ecoLED panel light are an eco-friendly alternative to a traditional downlight. They come in a range of
colours and sizes and can be used in a variety of settings, from offices to homes. Possessing the IC-F rating sets the
product apart even further, as it is the only light of its sort with the rating. Lights with no such rating must
maintain a minimum 100mm clearance, which makes them even less effective at preventing heat loss, one of the main
problems associated with traditional downlights.
