New Zealand Seafood Industry Council announces resignation of Chief Executive

The Chairman of the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council (SeaFIC) today announced the resignation of its Chief Executive, Peter Bodeker, who will leave the organisation in mid November 2012. Mr Bodeker has accepted the role of Chief Executive of the Otago Regional Council.

Dave Sharp, Chairman of the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council said that Peter had done a great job of leading SeaFIC through a significant restructuring process.

“Peter leaves the organisation in a strong position to achieve its goals around the effective promotion and representation of the New Zealand seafood industry at a national and international level,” says Dave Sharp.

“On behalf of the Board, we have appreciated Peter’s leadership and input into wider industry issues and wish him all the best in his new role.”

Mr Bodeker said it had been a challenging but rewarding two years, not only in rebuilding the organisation but also in consolidating SeaFIC’s role as an effective and more representative whole-of-industry body.

“I feel the time is right to hand over to a new Chief Executive who can take the organisation to the next phase and build on the industry’s position as a leading exporter of sustainable, high quality, fresh New Zealand seafood,” says Mr Bodeker.
